Everything I learned about evil I learned in the church! Of course that sentence runs two ways. First, if you belong to a church that teaches the Word of God with integrity, you will begin to have an understanding of evil and how it works in the world. Second, when we study God’s Word we learn about the reality of Spiritual warfare. The Bible teaches that we have an adversary who desires to ruin the witness of Christ in the world. After pastoring churches for over ten years, I have seen a common trend – spiritual warfare is real, and too many churches have succumbed. Like Peter on the night of Jesus’ betrayal, they have been sifted like wheat. The enemy has infiltrated many churches. In my personal experience as a pastor I have learned about evil first hand – and at the hands of well intentioned religious people! There are some very good, spirit filled churches; but there are many churches that are suffering from chronic conflict and turmoil. The book I have written seeks to address why that is so.
